In 2024, you want the most modern GPUs you can buy. Getting good deals on new GPUs that are a little older can’t take advantage of the new programs devs create and that manufacturers support. You want NVIDIA that can support AI and AMD cards that support ROCm for AI.

I made a mistake buying a blower GPU because i was expecting louder noise but when i eventually heard It... I wasnt believing how can It be so really awfully loud, it's just unbeareble to stay in the same room and work for hours with that noise, and to me this IS a real problem, i dont know what to do, i probably wont easily sell the gpu and on the other hand it's delivering a good service when It comes to performance... It would be stupid to spend money on some alternative disipation cause thsts the same money a different GPU could cost... I'm really frustrated with this issue, does anybody know about some cheap but reliable solution to cool GPU and VRAM with bigger and quieter fans ?

"You said exactly what I wanted to hear." - Eh, you don't seem to realize, but that is a very bad thing. It means the video isn't only useless to you, it does you a disservice, when you're evaluating options and have a preference, the input you need is the opposite side of yours. If your criteria survives unscathed, you had and still have the right idea, if not - reconsider. I you instead watch things that confirm your preference, you're invalidating your previous preference to a degree because you're just reinforcing it which is worse than doing nothing.

Ehm, the start of this video is pretty dumb, Geforce cards ARE FOR GAMING. Period. Full stop. Saying anything else means you're uninformed, ill informed or intentionally misleading people. However, what they are made for doesn't stop you, as the user, from using them for something else, it doesn't mean they won't potentially work for something else. BUT you'll be on your own using them for something else. That's what the 'made for' part means, manufacturers ISV's etc will not support other uses. You might be able to use one as a doorstop, but if it works well or not as a doorstop is YOUR PROBLEM, nVidia will not help you in using it as a doorstop. Going in to this and fudging the lines of what the delineation means makes you, the video maker, unprofessional. Why you are doing it has zero bearing on this, if you do not make clear what the difference is to your audience you should probably shut your piehole about it and stick to stuff you DO understand. Yes I'm being harsh and rude, but it is on purpose. This sort of thing is not helpful since you are pretending to do an apples to apples comparison when you're not, you're doing a apples to bowlingballs comparison. Finally - I'm not "defending" anyone or anything with this, I'm simply stating how things are. If you're using your PC and GPU for money making professional purposes, you might want to think long and hard about the implications, before you waltz into a store to pick up a Geforce instead of a Quadro or A series pro GPU. I own both a Quadro and a Geforce card, if I do work that is GPU dependent in some way I will at least verify it on the Quadro before sending it off, but more likely do the whole thing on it. The performance difference isn't that big and since I have both I might just as well save myself the extra steps.

I decided to upgrade my system from two rtx3060s to using 1 rtx 4090 and a 3060 left over from the previous build but i still had the spare 3060 and one last 3rd pcie x16 lane on my MB... Well guess what, the 4090 is so honkn huge i can't get a riser on the x16... So i spent 5 hrs just to find only a pcie 3rd gen super thin header with right angle soldering to the contacts to sneak the riser below the 4090 to try and outboard to my 3rd card...i really hope this works... If it doesn't ill definitely be moving to a system like this. Someone could make money out of a slim angled pcie 4.0 header and CHEAP egpu cases... There's tons of itx cases way cheaper than egpu cases that only house a psu and gpu and that is kind of absurd. Thank you so much for making this video and me aware of my options.

So, the bottom line is WHAT WILL YOU USE IT FOR? Same principle as selecting a CPU where one may trade off clock speed against the number of threads. Some applications may benefit more from clock speed as they can't use, or don't scale well with, a lot of cores. Other applications will use as many cores as they can access with excellent scaling.

Not really, this video is stupid because it assumes things exist in a vacuum - they don't. Plenty of rendering software vendors recommending gaming cards over workstation cards. Lumion, for example, recommends gaming cards for all but ultra high detail renders. Same with Unreal Engine 4 & 5 when using it to render scenes from CAD software. So maybe the issue doesn't start with the user, but with the vendors that say "use this, not that... Unless maybe you need this but you probably don't unless you're doing insane renders"

"If you can afford the best, buy the 4090; it is outperforming the 3090, in some cases, by 50%" Small but important nitpick: If the 4090's performance is, in some cases, twice that of the 3090, then the 4090 is outperforming the 3090 by *100%*. Depending on which position you make your baseline, the correct description of the difference in performance changes. It would be correct to say the 3090 is underperforming the 4090 by 50%, but the correct way to describe the performance of the 4090 is to say it is outperforming the 3090 by 100%.

one trick you can do on animations is render each freame in a different computer. eg: one computer render frames 1 to 10 while the other render 11 to 20, you can even put the final result on a network and inform blender to create the file as soon as it start rendering but not replace existing files, with that setup you can put both machines to render from frame 1, but the second machine will realize another machine is already rendering the first frame so it will start from the second, and as soon as one machine finishes it will see what is the next non existing frame and render it. this setupt is especially usefull because you dont know how much time it will take to render each frame, but it dont matter because as soon as one frame is finished the other will start automatically, unlike in an scenario where you put one machine to render say, from 1 to 10 and the second from 11 to 20, this other scenario would be very bad if the first 10 frames are faster to render but the 11 to 20 are slow (or the opposite)

What about one 3080 at x16 or two 3080 at x8•x8?

double vram should smoke the single card by ~40% or so. This only makes sense money-wise if you're debating between a single 4090 or 2x 4080 cards. The 4090 costs ~$1600 used. For about $200 more, you can buy 2 open box 4080 16gb cards, which would give ~25% better performance (thanks to 32gb video ram instead of 24gb). So, for 13% more dollars, you can get 35-30% better performance. Though you have to consider space and heat in your case, as well as the larger power supply required to run dual cards. If you have a huge case, 5+ fans, and a massive PSU already, dual 4080 makes sense. If you have a smaller case, 3 fans, and a 400w psu, its not worth the cost. If you have the power/fans/space, dual 3080 makes sense vs single in the same manner, but the cost difference between one vs 2x 3080 cards is negligible.

The first thing to do when getting a gpu so power hungry is too undervolt it: It takes a couple of minutes with MSI Afterburner and can reduce the heat, the noise and the power consumption. Worth to mention that the RTX 3090 can be run in couple with NVlink and programs like Blender will see a single stack of 48 GB of vram.
